Contractor Requirements
All QCS contractors must satisfy the following minimum requirements.
Have prior professional experience in the relevant field
Reside in and be legally eligible to work in the United States
Please note that QCS is not able to sponsor work visas at this time
Have a quiet, clean, and appropriate space from which you can conduct professional activities, make phone calls, and participate in video meetings without interruption
Secure a reliable internet connection with at least 500 mbps of speed that is password-protected
Furnish and pay for your own equipment that meets the QCS technical standards including:
A webcam (cameras built into desktop or laptop computers are acceptable)
A smart phone with an operating system that supports Google Voice, Quickbooks, and other Google products
An encrypted (password-protected) desktop or laptop computer. Tablets and smart phones cannot be substituted for this requirement.
Access to a printer, if needed
Source and pay for your own office supplies, furnishings, and materials
Complete eligibility certifications such as privacy training, IRB training, and sexual harassment training
QCS can provide recommendations for free or low cost certification options. Most programs take 1-2 hours to complete. Contact us for suggestions.
Provide certificates of insurance coverage before commencing work. Contact your insurance provider for more information. Rates may vary. Additional insurance requirements may apply. Minimum insurance requirements include:
$1 million each in cyber insurance, general liability insurance, and professional liability insurance (sometimes referred to as errors & omissions insurance)
$100,000/$300,000 in sexual abuse and misconduct insurance
Proof of a worker's compensation insurance policy that satisfies the requirements of the state from which your work will be conducted. A state-issued waiver of worker's compensation insurance is also acceptable.
Meet and submit certificates of compliance for the NIST 800-171 cyber security framework. Each project has different cyber security requirements. Higher levels of cyber security infrastructure may be required based on contractual agreements. Contractors are responsible for meeting and maintaining the appropriate cyber security infrastructure.
Beginning January 1, 2025, all subcontractors may be required to comply with CMMC 2.0 Level 2 as well.
As an independent contractor, you are a business owner. Contact your insurance provider, legal counsel, or IT advisor for guidance. Other requirements may apply depending on the work assignment. If applicable, you will be notified of additional requirements during the contracting process.
